Matt in the Hat RV Winterization Crew

On the first cold bite of Indiana wind — the kind that makes your breath fog and your pipes nervous — you’ll find the Matt in the Hat RV team out on the road, moving from RV to RV before winter hits full force. No shop walls. No lines. Just mobile techs who show up wherever your RV is parked, ready to protect it from the season ahead.

Matt and his lead tech, Zavarri, have winter prep down to an art. They know the sounds an RV makes when it’s bracing for a freeze, the quiet warnings in a water line, the little things owners don’t notice until spring thaw turns into spring regret.

Families, full-timers, weekend campers — they all trust this crew to button up their RVs before the frost settles in. Because winterization isn’t just a service; it’s insurance for your adventures. It’s making sure your RV is safe, sealed, and ready to roll when warmer days return.

❄️ WINTERIZATION FAQs

Why do I even need to winterize my RV?

Because freezing temps can crack pipes, burst fittings, damage tanks, ruin water heaters, and cost thousands in repairs come spring. Winterizing is the cheapest insurance you’ll ever buy.

When should I schedule my winterization?

As soon as temperatures consistently dip below 40°F — ideally October through early December in Indiana. Earlier is always smarter.

Do you come to my location?

Yes! We’re 100% mobile. We meet you anywhere in Central Indiana — driveway, storage unit, farm, campground, you name it.

How long does the winterization service take?

Typically 30–60 minutes, depending on your RV type. Some units take longer if they have multiple bathrooms or specialty systems.

What should I do to prep my RV before you arrive?

Not much — just remove perishable food and turn off heat sources. We handle the tanks, lines, appliances, and antifreeze.

Does winterizing include de-winterization in the spring?

It’s a separate service, but yes — we offer full de-winterization packages, too. Many customers book both at once to save a spot for spring.

What if I plan to use my RV occasionally during winter?

Tell us! We’ll winterize it in a way that allows for safe short-term use without risking your system.

Testimonials

Stephanie Myers

Zavarri came to our home to winterize my 2019 Sprinter Dayrunner Van, he was very thorough and explained any questions I had for him! His friendly demeanor made it all worth the while to have them come to me and do this. Upon finishing he explained to me what he did and what I needed to do for diesel fuel and batteries throughout the winter months. I will definitely have them back to work with me on the inner workings that I am still figuring out! Thanks Zavarri

I used Matt in the Hat RV for my winterization this year. His prices were fair. Communication was excellent and he was able to schedule me quickly. He was professional, courteous, and sent a very detailed summary report after the winterization and inspection were complete. I would highly recommend his services.
